Taiyuan has a warm temperate continental monsoon climate with an average annual temperature of 9.3℃. It has sufficient sunshine but little rainfall. In terms of climate, from May to October is the best time to visit Taiyuan.

If the travelers come to Taiyuan at this time, they can not only ascend the pagoda temple, admire the stele corridor but also enjoy peonies. Then, the Shanxi Taiyuan International Folk Art Festival will be held in September, in which numerous performances from different places in the world will be on show. Besides, although from May 1 to 3 or October 1 to 7 is also the right time for visit, they are the national holidays of Chinese people when it is extremely crowded everywhere. Thus, normally foreign visitors are recommended to avoid visiting Taiyuan in the two vacations.
