Transportation in Taiyuan
Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi, is the political, educational and cultural centre of the province. It is also one of China's heavy industry bases. It is a transportation hub with a well-developed transportation system. You can get there by plane, train and long-distance bus. All of them offer great convenience to visitors.
Taiyuan's main airport is Taiyuan Wusu Airport, situated in the southern suburb, 15 km away from the downtown. At present, only Seoul has international flights to Taiyuan. And many China cities have domestic flights to Taiyuan.
Taiyuan railway station is located at Yingze district of Taiyuan city in Shanxi. There are many railway transportations with connections to all wind directions that can reach most cities of China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Datong, Guangzhou, Luoyang, Zhengzhou and Xi'an.
To Beijing- takes about 8-10 hours, or 3.5 hours by the new CRH bullet trains.
To Shanghai- takes about 22 hours.
To Chengdu- takes about 30 hours.
To Datong- takes about 6-8 hours.
To Guangzhou- takes about 32 hours.
To Luoyang- takes about 12 hours.
To Zhengzhou- takes about 10 hours.
To Xi'an- takes about 11-12 hours.
Highway traffic is well-developed in Taiyun. There are five major long-distance bus stations, which are Provincial Bus Station, East Station, West Station, Jiannan Bus Station and Yingbin Bus Station. Both of them can provide plenty of buses to reach most cities of china.

Public bus is a very convenient way to get around the city. Most bus fares are relatively cheap, around ￥1.
Taxi is also a good way to travel around. The starting fare of taxi is 8RMB (within 3km), RMB1.1/km after 3km.
