Guangzhou 72-hour Visa-free Transit

Guangzhou allows tourists from 51 countries, who have a third country visa and valid air ticket, to stay visa-free for 72 hours. Tourists can apply for a visa-free transit stay in Guangzhou and other cities in Guangdong Province at the immigration inspection authority at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. The 51 countries lists as follow:

European Schengen Visa Member Countries (24)

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland

Other European Countries (13) 

Russia, UK, Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Albania. 

American Countries (6) 

United States (USA), Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile. 

Oceanian Countries (2) 

Australia, New Zealand.

Asian Countries (6) 

South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, United Arab Emirates (U.A.E), Qatar. 

Requirements

Holders of valid international travel documents; 

Holding a third country (region) visa; third is holding confirmed onward airlines ticket and leaving Guangzhou within 72 hours; 

Range of activities should limit in Guangdong Province.

72-hour visa-free transit application procedures

1)At original departure check-in desk, be sure to tell the check-in staff you want to apply for 72-hour visa-free transit in Guangzhou. The check-in staff may need you to fulfill some detail information and help you to send application 

information to China immigration prior to your arrival in Guangzhou.

2)You can also inquiry any detail information about 72-hour visa-free transit from China Southern Airline staff at your original station.

Useful Tips

1. Buy Air Ticket and Check in

a. To apply for the 72-hour transit visa exemption at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, you must buy and print the air ticket for a connecting flight with confirmed date of flight and seat for a third country (region )leaving China at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport

b. You must inform the crews at the airline to Guangzhou beforehand of your application for 72-hour transit visa exemption in Guangzhou

2. The flight arrives at Guangzhou

a. Please go to the Inspection & Quarantine and Immigration Inspection Channels according to the inward passenger sign

3. Quarantine

a.If you come from a yellow fever endemic country or region, you must hold a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate

b.You are not allowed to transit through China with your pet.

4. Immigration

a.Please go to theImmigration Channels 2-4 according to 72-hour traveler sign.

b.You must prepare the following information: 1) Your valid international traveling document; 2) A third country (region) visa; 3) Complete an entry card (Including your residential address in China; 4) Air ticket for a connecting flight with confirmed date of flight and seat for a third country (region) leaving China at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport within 72 hours

5. Reclaim Baggage

a. If you choose to tag through baggage to a third country, your baggage will be checked at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and you do not need to reclaim baggage again

6. Customs

a. If you take the goods that are required to be declared to the Customs, you must complete the Baggage Declaration Form for Inward/Outward Passengers of the Customs of the People’s Republic of China and choose the “Declaration Channel to pass through Customs. If not, there is no need to complete the Declaration Form and you can choose the “No Declaration Channel” to pass through Customs.

7. Leave the airport

a. After baggage reclaim, you can leave the airport by airport bus, Metro or taxi.

8. Enjoy your stay in Guangdong

a.You may go to any city in Guangdong within the visa exemption time.

9. Return to the airport and Check in

a. Please return to Guangzhou Airport before the time limit of visa exemption and check in.

b.Please prepare your valid international traveling document, departure card and boarding pass for outgoing flight during the immigration inspection.

10. Leave Guangzhou

a. On the day of departure, issues on your confirmed onward airline ticket, you’d better arrive at the Baiyun International Airport at least two hours before flight take-off. You may Enter the international departure hall from Gate No.7or 8, and then proceed to correspondent airline check-in counter (China southern Airlines have assigned No. F13-14 for 72-hours visa-free passengers) for your check-in procedures, then pass through customs, security and immigration check by yourself, and find your corresponding gate of your flight.
