There are many ways for tourists to go to the city proper:
(1) Tourists may go to the downtown area of Xiamen by shuttle bus. After walking out of the "Arrival Hall," tourists should walk westward for three to five minutes to the parking lot to Oct on a bus, six yuan a person.
(2) Tourists may take public buses.

Xiamen boasts a perfect public traffic network, and the main means of transportation in the city proper include public buses, taxis, minibuses and ferryboats. All the public buses in Xiamen are self-service, so passengers need to prepare small changes before getting on a bus. The prices of bus tickets include one yuan, two yuan and three yuan. Taxis can be found everywhere in Xiamen, with the starting price of eight yuan for the first three kilometers; and the bridge and cave tolls will be charged separately. The starting price for minibuses in Xiamen is one yuan, and passengers will be charged according to the distance of the trip. According to the actual conditions, Xiamen has set up the special bus lanes, harbor-type bus stops, auxiliary lanes, sections only for buses, crossings forbidden for turning to the left and main intersections, providing preferential treatment to public buses.

With the starting price of one Yuan. the minibus will charge passengers according to the distance of the trip. Minibuses are convenient and flexible, but sometimes passengers need to wait for a long time in the minibuses.
Buses to the suburbs of Xiamen run regularly to Jimei, Tong'an, Haicang and other places via the Xiamen Bridge. Ferryboats are the main means of transportation for tourists to go back and forth between Xiamen Island and Gulangyu Island across the Egret River from 06:00-23:00 everyday, with an interval of several minutes between two ferryboats. It takes about eight to 10 minutes from Xiamen to Gulangyu Island by boat. Round-wav ticket costs RMB eight yuan and they charged on the back way.
