All the villagers have the same family name – Zhou, and they are the descendants of Mr. Zhou Dunyi who was a famous philosopher, scholar of Neo-Confucianism and writer in North Song Dynasty (960–1127). In the past times, all the villagers followed their ancestor and always paid big attention to their children's education, so many locals (over 160) successfully passed the imperial exams of different levels and became high ranking officials, writers or poets in the past dynasties.

Nowadays, the old Zhou Family Temple is standing at the entrance of the village; there are totally 180 families and 800 people living in the village. Those old houses with exquisite wooden carvings on the windows, old water wells, stone arched bridges, etc will bring you back to that part of history. Jiangtou Village is listed as Non-material cultural heritage and a wonderful place to learn Chinese philosophy, Fengshui and traditions.
