Chizhou City

Located in the southwest of Anhui Province on the southern bank of the lower and middle reaches of the Yangtze River., Chizhou City adjoins Tongling, the Mount Jiuhua and the Yellow Mountain to the south. It covers an area of 8.272 square kilometers and has a population of 1.56 million. Chizhou exercises jurisdiction over Guichi District and Dongzhi, Shitai and Qingyang counties and the Jiuhua Mountain Scenic Area.

Chizhou boasts beautiful mountains and rivers as well as various interesting landforms. The hilly land in the south, the alluvial plain of the Yangtze River in the north, and the lakes and rivers traversing the whole area combine to form an extremely picturesque landscape. There are two national nature reserves within this area: one is Shengjin Lake, an important wetland in Asia, also known as China’s Crane Lake; the other is Guiniujiang, a national nature reserve of wild fauna and flora, which is also called the Great Animal and Plant Gene Bank in East China. In addition, the Jiuhua Mountain National Forest Park and other provincial nature reserves and scenic spots can be found in Chizhou City.
