Kunming Yongdao Street Flower and Bird Market is a distinctive place which full of strong spice of life. It is the city's biggest and most popular bazaar. On the narrow street with half of kilometer long, there many proliferation of shops. And you can see a sea of people here. What a boisterous place it is! Visitors can purchase all kinds of flowers and birds, as its name suggests, one can also find a wide array of knick-knacks, souvenirs, replica weapons, fish, turtles, rodents, and many other items on sale. The market offers the typical Chinese shopping atmosphere with bargaining shoppers and shrewd shopkeepers.

Kunming Yongdao Flower and Bird Market, located at Yongdao Street in the center of Kunming’s downtown area, was opened for business in 1983, gathering vendors selling flowers, birds, fish and so on, and finally became the biggest flowers and birds market in Kunming.

Yongdao Street is 200 meters long and about 15 meters wide. On the two sides of sidewalk there are more than 300 setting booths and about 700 traders. Phoenix trees are planted in line on sides of the road, providing shade for visitors in summer. Besides various kinds of flowers, birds, fishes and pet-insects, item for collection and decoration such as jewels, handcrafts, antiques and commemorative coins are also sold at this market. At least seven to eight groups of foreign visitors can be seen shopping in Yongdao Flower and Bird Market every day.
