The Sundial in Front of the Hall of the Supreme Harmony

The Sundial, also called gnomon, was a timing instrument in ancient China; it used the shadow of a pinter reflected on the dundial plate to tell the time. This dundial was added in the 10th year (1745) in the reign of Emperor Qianlong, and it, together with Jialiang, symbloized the unity of the country.
