Emei Mountain in Winter

Mount Emei rises in the southwestern part of the Chengdu Plain in Emeishan City, Sichuan province, China. Geographically, Mt. Emei sits at the western rim of the Sichuan Basin. At 3,099 meters, Mt. Emei is the highest of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China. The craggy southern part of the mountain is crisscrossed by ravines and covered with a dense growth of plants, while the northern part features sheer precipices, and waterfalls cascading down the slope. It was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996.
