First Metaverse Ice and Snow Town in China to Debut in Wukesong, Haidian District, Beijing by End of 2023
On May 6, Beijing Wukesong Cultural and Sports Center Co. Ltd. and Qi Ming Di Rui (Beijing) Cultural Tourism Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement at Huaxi LIVE·Wukesong. Sibberia Snow World, a main product of Qi Ming Di Rui, will be introduced to the Huaxi LIVE Ice Center, owned by Huaxi LIVE·Wukesong, allowing the two parties to jointly build the first ever metaverse ice and snow town in China.
Covering an area of 6,000 square meters, the ice and snow town will bring visitors a new immersive and interactive winter experience, aimed at combining winter-themed sports, entertainment and metaverse activities. The town plans to introduce ice curling, ice performances, ice karting, snowball fights, ice sculptures, glacier waterfalls and much more. Among these, the "year-round ice karting" project will be a unique destination for urban micro-vacations in Beijing.
A castle-style immersive theater and interactive stage on ice will be built in the performance section, allowing many performances on ice to take place. More than 20 immersive metaverse experiences will also be available in this section, including a carousel, VR basketball, VR racing and VR shooter games.
"The goal of Sibberia Snow World is to make it a brand new ice-and-snow themed urban complex that integrates sports, recreation and education, as well as being a base for winter experiences," says Wang Yang, general manager of Qi Ming Di Rui. "With the cultural and sports industries at its core, Huaxi LIVE·Wukesong brings together various business models featuring immersive experiences and targeting customers under the age of 35, and that is highly compatible with the philosophy of Sibberia Snow World. We are confident that we can create a popular, widely shared spot in Beijing."
The exterior facade of the Huaxi LIVE Ice Center is framed by a grille curtain wall system, forming a pattern of geometric snowflakes. At night, the pattern looks like countless snowflakes falling in the changing light and shadow, which has led to the pattern being called "Bing Ling Hua" (flowers of ice). The venue has two floors above ground and two floors underground, with two convertible ice rinks, one 60 meters by 30 meters and the other 60 meters by 26 meters. Both adopt the most environmental-friendly transcritical CO2 direct cooling technology.
