Have you any information on the Chinese who migrated to the Colony of New South Wales, the then colony of Australia, in the 1850's? Why did they leave? Where did they mostly come form around Xiamen? Have you any family names of those who migrated?

I searched in some Chinese search engines and could not find any Chinese materials to answer all your questions. But perhaps you may find some useful information about the Chinese migration history in/to Australia in these books - Citizens: Flowers and the Wide Sea (English, by Australian writer Eric Rolls); A History of the Chinese Emigrants to Australia (simple Chinese, by Huang Yuanshen, director of the Australian Studies Centre at East China Normal University).
