On the evening of December 12, the opening ceremony of the 27th Changchun Ice and Snow Festival was held with great fanfare.

With the theme of "Urban Ice and Snow • Meet in Changchun", this year's ice and snow festival will last for 120 days. During the festival, the Changchun municipal government and the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism will jointly carry out 10 main activities and over 140 supporting activities in such area as ice and snow tourism, culture, sports, academic research and trade.

To thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on boosting the development of the ice and snow economy, as well as the decision and deployment of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government on building a trillion-level tourism industry, and to promote the construction of a 500-billion-level tourism industry in Changchun city, the ongoing festival has built a world-class ice and snow theme park, held a high-standard opening ceremony, organized a high-level ice and snow industry forum, created a number of new hotspots and scenarios for winter tourism, and launched a series of distinctive ice and snow products and activities, vividly explaining the brand image of "Ice and Snow Culture City". The festival strives to develop new tourism products, upgrade the tourism industry and achieve a new leap in the tourism economy during the 2023-2024 snow season.

Changchun Ice and Snow New World opened on the same day. Covering an area of 1.56 million square meters, the park has used 738,000 cubic meters of ice and snow. It has offered 30 experience entertainment activities and more than 500 performances, introduced "digital technology + guochao IP + fashion elements", and created a giant snow sculpture Shuey Rhon Rhon.

10 major ice and snow parks and 40 entertainment venues across Changchun will open in the new snow season. Various winter tourism products will be launched in December, bringing tourists a brand new ice and snow experience.
