Stone Drum Town (Shigu Town) is located in the western of Lijiang Old Town. It is the ancient battleground strategic. Due to there are a drum-shaped white marble sculpture stone tablet in the town, it named as Stone Drum Town. The stone tablet with a diameter of 15 meters and thick of 0.7 meters, it is the earliest stone tablet found in Lijiang.

There are valleys and mountain two topography types, at an elevation of 1,864 m -3,500 m, where Jinsha River forms the famous "Yangtze River First Bend." Stone Drum Town has always been the important trading center between Tibetan and Han area. Meanwhile, it was first listed as one of the red tourist routes. There stands a Monument of the Red Army Crossing the River in a small hill of the town. In the front of the monument, there is a sculpture of an imposing red army soldier’s affectionate farewell with an old boatman.

More than 30 kilometers away from the Stone Drum Town, it is a fertile Dam, where economic and cultural development earlier. There are a large number of sarcophagus tombs from Warring States Period (403 BC – 221 BC) to the Han Dynasty (202BC—220AD), and have been unearthed many Tubo monuments during Tang Dynasty (618—907).
