First Bend of the Yangtze River
First Bend of the Yangtze River (The 1st Bay Changjiang River) is locates in the northwest of Yunnan Shangri-La County. The Yangtze River rush down from the “roof of the world” – Tibetan, and then follows into Yunnan from Batang county territory and formats the magnificent landscape "Three Parallel Rivers" with the Lancang River and Nu River. When comes to Shasongbi village in Shangri-La County, it suddenly makes a 100-degree sharp turn to the northeast, and forming a rare "V" shaped big bend. "
Here is a folk legend about the first Bend. It was said that Nu, Lancang and Jinsha three sisters traveling together, but on the halfway they disputed. Nu and Lancang stubbornly went to the South, while Jinsha determined to turn to the East to find the light and love, where the girl turned around formed the First Bend. With the beautiful scenery and an altitude of 1850 meters, the First Bend of the Yangtze River is the excellent place to see the sunset.
