Yuantong Temple China

In 1253 when Kublai Khan led Mongolian overwhelming cavalries to conquer Dali Kingdom (938-1253), Putuoluo Temple was brought down by warfare and was later reconstructed from 1301 to 1319. It was renamed "Yuantong Temple". "Yuantong" turns out to be one of the 32 clerical names of Goddess of Mercy, meaning "knowledge and understanding". Maybe one might probably note that Goddess of Mercy is also referred to as "Yuantong Dashi".
