1999 World Horticultural Exposition

The 1999 World Horticultural Exposition (aka Kunming World Horticultural Expo Garden, shortly the World Expo Garden) is located in the northern suburbs of Kunming, 6 km from downtown, next to the Golden Temple Scenic Spot.

At an elevation of 1,920-2,010 meters above sea level, covers 218 hectares in area, measures 2.5 km in length, and 1.1 km in width. The theme of the 1999 World Horticultural Exposition is "Man and Nature, marching into the 21st century." In the garden there is a grand exhibition of horticulture from everywhere. It is consisted of 5 indoor exhibition halls (China Hall, the Man and Nature Hall, the Green House, the Science and Technology Hall, and the International Hall), 6 theme gardens (the Tree Garden, the Tea Garden, the Bonsai Garden, the Medicinal Herb Garden, the Bamboo Garden, and the Vegetable and Fruit Garden) and 34 outdoor gardens of domestic participants, 32 outdoor gardens for foreign countries and international organizational and 9 outdoor exhibition area for the enterprise participants.

Kunming World Horticultural Expo Garden is the best preserved site of the world expos in history. How to get

Take taxi or Public Bus No. 69, 71, 10, A1; the Garden is quite vast, longtime walking may make you exhausted, so you can choose to rent tour cart.
