Stone Tablets Engraved with Name Lists of Jin Shi
On the two sides of the front courtyard of the Confucian Temple were 198 pieces of stone tablets with names, birthplaces and the examination results of 51,624 Jin Shi of the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. Of these stone tablets, 3 pieces were for the
Yuan Dynasty, 77 pieces for the
Ming Dynasty, and 118 pieces for the
Qing Dynasty. The tablets now serve as precious materials for research on Ke Ju system in ancient China (Ke Ju was the civil service examination system which was introduced during the Sui and Tang dynasties, generally held once every three years with subjects varying from dynasty to dynasty, and abolished in 1905).
