Transportation in Jiuzhaigou

Jiuzhaigou is located in the north of Sichuan province, more than 400 kilometers away from Chengdu. It is a deep valley, which is more than 40km in length. It is known as "worldly paradise" for its unique original landscape, abundant animal and plant resources. You can get there by plane and bus.

Getting there

◎By Plane

Sichuan Jiuzhaihuanglong Airport is located in the Songpan County of aba Tibetan autonomous prefecture in sichuan province, is about 88km away from jiuzhaigou and 53km away from huanglong. Many cities have daily flights and seasonal flight to Jiuzhaigou, including Chengdu (daily), Beijing (daily), Shanghai (daily), Guangzhou (daily), Xi'an (seasonal), Kunming (daily), Chongqing (daily), Zhangjiajie (seasonal), etc. 

◎By Bus

Travel from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou by bus takes about 8 hours. There are regular buses heading to Jiuzhaigou from Chengdu each day. Bus to Jiuzhaigou departs from Xinnanmen Bus Station and Chadianzi Bus Station. 

Tips: The latest bus leaves around 10 am, there is no night bus. 

Getting around

◎By Taxi

Taxis in Jiuzhaigou are divided into five models: Xiali, Santana, Jetta, Mitsubishi and Hyundai.  The staring fare vary differ among the different models. In general, the flag-down fare of Xiali and Santana is CNY 4 for the first two kms and CNY 5 to Jetta and CNY 6 for the first two kilometers to the Mistsubishi and Hyundai. Hereafter the price is CNY 1.4 for every extra kilometer.

Most visitors access Juizhaigou by road. From Mianyang an early morning start gets you to Jiuzhaigou township in time for dinner and the Tibetan cultural show (¥120-320).

◎By Car

Car Rentals are also available and range from ¥500-900per day. 

By Eco-shuttle bus

In an effort to preserve the natural beauty of the Jiuzhaigou Valley, only designated small vehicles and eco-shuttle buses are allow inside the scenic area. There are numerous stops along the way at each named scenic outlook but the best way to see the area is by taking the shuttle at the visitor's center and ride up to the end of one of 3 lines, then walk/hike back.
