Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo

The Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo began in 1988 and is located in the Sun Island Park. It covers an area of 600,000 square meters, uses over 100,000 cubic meters of snow annually, and has more than 150 snow landscapes. The expo is the birthplace of Chinese snow carving art and is currently the earliest and largest developed in China. Being one of the theme parks of the annual Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, it is hailed as the "world's largest ice and snow carnival". In the expo, there are not only amusement facilities such as snow slides, ice bikes, snowmobiles, and dog sleds here, but also local food and various beautiful snow sculptures.

Unlike the ice sculptures in the Harbin Ice and Snow World, the Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo mainly displays snow sculptures, making them more suitable for viewing in daytime. The annual expo starts from the end of December and continues until the end of February of the following year, during which various large-scale snow sculptures made by Chinese and foreign artists can be seen.

The theme of the annual Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo is different. The snow sculptures are exquisitely shaped and have a strong artistic sense. The artists who come here to create snow sculptures come from different countries including China, Russia, the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Canada, and so on. The expo is also the venue of the international and China national snow carving competitions. At the venue, tourists have opportunities to see the sculptors how to make a snow sculpture and their finished sculptures.
