Moxi Town

Moxi Town is a center for the ancient Tea Horse Road, located in Luding County in the Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan, about 304 km away from Chengdu. Standing at the gateway to the Hailuogou National Glacier Forest Park, it served as the tourist reception base and entrance of the park.

At roughly 1,600 meters above sea level, Moxi old town is a settlement of Han, Yi and Tibetan. Moxi town retains a more complete ancient street of the old town area. There are ancient residential buildings of the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and early Republic of China (1912-1949). A Gothic Catholic Church in the town built by French missionaries in 1918, where in 1935, in the Battle of Luding Bridge, some of those who fought in the battle including Mao Zedong meeting here in Moxi and stayed.

When walking in the quartzite paving, as if back to the past. Despite the years of vicissitudes, people can pry out the traces of its long history from its many ancient buildings in the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing dynasties. The old Chinese building is still preserved in the share of dignified, The outgoing church bells of Sunday prayer has echoed a century, the blend of Chinese and Western cultures has add another fun to the town - Moxi.
