Sixty-Year-Old Gate
When praying for grains, the emperor should walk on foot to the altar along the main road (Danbi Bridge). In 1769 (the 34th year of Qianlong's reign), when Hongli (Emperor Qianlong) had reached the advanced age of 60 years old, he felt his health failing him. This gate was opened up to shorten the distance and alleviate the fatigue of the emperor, and hence the name of "the sixty-year-old gate".
