Mudu Old Town
Mudu is an old water town located 15 kilometer west to the Suzhou city. With an area of 62 square kilometers, it is a southern Chinese garden town with a history of 2,500 years. There is harmony and unity of the unique natural landscape and cultural landscape, known as the pearl of Taihu Lake Scenic Area, was named one of "China's most interesting places" and "the most popular tourist destination".
Mudu Water Town once had more than 30 private garden in Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1912) dynasties, including the famous Jiangnan garden - Yan Family Garden and Emperor Qianlong's folk palace - Rainbow Drink Hillside Garden.
The ancient town is covered with river ways, the bridges therefore become a necessity for the local people and visitors. The most popular bridges include Wang Family Bridge, the Leaning Bridge, the Rainbow Bridge, the Xi'an Bridge, Lang Bridge are worth to see. Meanwhile, to explore the peaceful town by boat is one of the most interesting things to do here.
In addition, the Suzhou Cuisine is one of the great four cuisines in China, the food and snacks in Mudu is not to be missed when you visit there.
